The Friday doctor's report Or No baby yet

This morning I visited Dr. Craig. This is her picture. She says that I'm the same as last week: 1-2 centimeters. This is great news because I'm trying not to mess up the Naval Research Lab's two week visit to SDL. (This was poor planning on their part mind you. I scheduled the baby with SDL in February.) Everything else is going great. I sleep a lot and can't stay awake past 9:30pm. The guest bedroom is ready for whomever shows up first!

Weekend in Logan

This weekend Jon and I stayed home and did things to get ready for the baby. Jon steam-cleaned Autumn's bedroom. We had very welcome visitors as Jon's parents and sister Diana came up to see us for a little while on Saturday. Jon and his dad rode their mountain bikes all the way to the wilderness boundary in Green Canyon. Kaylene, Diana, and I went down to the farmers' market where we drank peach lemonade and bought fresh corn on the cob.

She's gonna be big

At my doctor's visit this morning, I learned that Autumn will likely be 7 1/2 to 8 pounds when she is delivered. That's the size of an 8 pound crenshaw melon for those who need a visual. ;) She and I are doing very well. Earlier in the morning, I mean a lot earlier, I woke up to severe Braxton-hicks contractions. They came every 5 to 10 minutes from 3am to 3:30am. While starting to feel very nauseous, I began packing and making to-do lists because I didn't know if it was real labor. I almost sent out a text message about it. After deciding I would need plenty of sleep if it was indeed real labor, I went to bed and did not experience any more regular contractions after that. Dr. Craig says everything is going right on schedule.

Under Construction - The Logan Temple

They are replacing the fountain at the Logan Temple with a reflecting pool. The pool is just one of several projects started during the month long closure. Since the temple just reopened yesterday, I got to attend a session today. Happy Day!!!!

Jonathan and the Case of the Burnt Marshmallows

What started as a lovely picnic in the canyon, suddenly turned ugly as Jonathan's marshmallows caught fire and melted into a blackened, chary mess. Jonathan was unable to discover the culprit and was left to clean up the mess himself and start over. Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator is encouraged to report it immediately.



Despite the crime, we still had fun using Jon's new camp cookers. We made pizza sandwiches with them. We also ate s'mores with strawberry marshmallows.

Apricots, Apricots, Apricots

Last night one of the sisters in our ward invited us over to get apricots from her tree. (The story is a little longer then that. I had noticed the apricot tree on a walk and called her to ask if we could pick some. The first thing she said when she answered the phone was "Want some apricots?" I thought it was pretty funny.) We brought them home and owing to their ripeness we immediately canned them using the steamer we got as a wedding gift. During the process we canned 14 jars and learned that you can pack the apricots in the jars more tightly then we initially thought. This morning we had apricot smoothies for breakfast. Mmmmm too much fiber.
