Last night I hosted a bridal shower for my old roommate Lisa. She is living in Linden and drove up for the shower. I had a lot of help getting ready. Some of Lisa's friends and family brought food and my neighbors tended Autumn in the final moments of getting the house ready. It was a wonderfully attended shower and everyone stayed an extra hour to talk to Lisa. We had good food ;) including chocolate trifle, grapes, veggies, pecan bar cookies, punch, and chips with seven layer dip. I decorated with the Katrina and Bethany's bridal veils, and lots of balloons.
My most memorable random moment was after the shower when Jonathan and I were sprawled out, exhausted on the living room floor talking. At some point we started singing and comparing our own versions of the Books of the Old Testemant song. "Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers...". Which version do you like better, the one sung to the tune of "Praise to the Man" or the one sung to "Do What is Right"?

Special Visitor

Happy 11 months Autumn!
Autumn took 8 steps in a row yesterday! Her vocabulary is growing too. I've heard her say (without prompting) lately:doggie

I did it! (sometimes even before she does something cool.)

What is it light! (after I turned on her bedroom light.)
Autumn likes to climb from the arm of the recliner to the arm of the couch. There's a 4 inch gap between them.) She climbs up the stairs, down the stairs, and up the stairs with a toy. She loves going to the park, any park. She likes to stand up and throw her red bouncy ball at us. The swimming pool and the bathtub are great places to play. Watermelon is the best food ever. If watermelon is in sight and not on Autumn's plate, there are tears. Yogurt doesn't give her problems any more. Bananas and graham crackers are still not her favorite. Autumn's hair has become really curly. She still just has eight teeth. Only.

Orem Trip Pictures
Autumn and her cousin Kloe really enjoyed playing together last week when we were in Orem for Aunt Connie's funeral. Jessica has some good pictures on her blog. Kloe was nice enough to lend Autumn a swimming suit and swim diaper. Thanks Jessica!
Autumn got to meet Aunt Alysa and Uncle Ray for the first time. They made a special trip up from Farmington, NM to come to the funeral. I think Autumn and Aunt Alysa look a lot alike.
Grandmas are the best.
Jonathan's dad dedicated Aunt Connie's grave. It was a very nice prayer. The funeral was lovely as well.

Brigham City Temple
We are excited to get another temple only 35 minutes from our house. This is great because the Logan Temple is closed for two months out of the year for maintenance. Having the Brigham City Temple halves the hour long drive to the Ogden Temple. (Picture credit www.lds.org)

A new chapter in our lives
Today at church I was called to be the Young Women's President for our ward. (That means I am in charge of the girls ages 12-18 both at church for an hour on Sundays and I help provide an activity every week on Tuesday nights.) I work with five other women who help with teaching lessons and coming up with activities. Jonathan and Autumn have both been very helpful already. Autumn has slept through the night for the past four nights! Jonathan took Autumn during Young Womens and even changed two diapers during that time. Jonathan is still a Sunday School teacher. (He's the best. You should come visit us on a day when he is teaching.)
Today in YW's, I introduced myself to the girls. I told them how I felt about each of the values that the young women study in their theme. All the leaders, new and old, expressed their love to the girls. After class we took a picture.
Just before YW's started, Autumn made sure it would be a memorable experience and she wet all over the front of my skirt. Here is my testimony that I shared with the Young Women (mostly):
Faith
I know that having faith in Jesus Christ is the key to returning to our Father in Heaven. Faith is knowledge that helps us make right choices. I know that we can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by learning at church, reading the scriptures, talking to Heavenly Father regularly, and by attending seminary when we have that opportunity. Faith can and should be the power in our lives. I always want to walk by faith in everything that I do.
Divine Nature
We are divine beings experiencing life in a tumultuous and sometimes crazy world. If it seems uncomfortable, it's our spirits reminding us that we have a destiny far above and beyond this mortal life. I know that we can return to live with God and become like him. It will be our privilege if we live up to our divine heritage by exercising faith in our Savior. God will make us equal to the challenges that we face.
Individual Worth
I know that the Lord answers my prayers. There have been many times that he has helped me with problems that are very specific to me.
Knowledge
I know that the glory of God is intelligence. I know that he gives us opportunities to learn in every situation. I know that we will be blessed we try our best to learn.
Choice and Accountability
I know that Heavenly father's plan gives us freedom to act for ourselves. We are here to learn to be responsible. Exercising our agency righteously will help us to return to him.
Good Works
I know that we can pray for Charity and God with grant it unto us. My husband said, “Charity is a state of mind. It's just how you are. It happens naturally. You just do it [service] and don't think twice about it. Then don't brag about how cool you are to everyone.” I believe that, and I hope that I can have Charity in my life.
Integrity
Integrity is being true to yourself and others at all times. I know that when we are honest, we will be blessed at school, in our social lives, in our family lives, and in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Virtue
I have a testimony that the Lord loves virtuous young men and young women. I know that the coolest feeling ever occurred when I married my sweetheart. At that moment I thought about how I had stayed morally clean and was worthy of my cool and amazing companion. I know that the Lord was pleased with me. I felt so good inside. I know that we can repent if we've made mistakes. The Lord can make us pure again and we can feel good in his presence.
