Autumn's first musical composition

Listener beware. Autumn doesn't mind disonance. Someone more musically inclined could tell you if this piece ever resolves. However, I think Autumn's musical creation is cute because I didn't start writing songs until I was much older (like 5).

Doctor Update

Autumn's doctor called to let us know that the test for celiac came back negative. Yeah!!!!!!!!!

Busy morning

Autumn and I walked to the hospital this morning for Autumn's 18 month doctor's visit. She also got MMR, HepA, and Chicken Pox #2 shots. That was not a happy time. Autumn's doctor ordered a celiac blood test. We went to the lab and they drew a whole syringe of blood from her. She wasn't happy about that either. Autumn did get candy after the blood test though, and she returned to her happy self quickly. We will get the results of the test in a couple of days.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what a positive result would mean for us. That's probably why I wasn't in the mood to go right home afterward the test. We continued our walk from the hospital to Walmart. Shopping is so theraputic. It's time for Autumn's Ibuprofen. I'd better go.

Happy 18 Months Autumn!

After a successful first day of nursery, Autumn is ready to take on bigger projects like carrying a full-size basketball up 14 steps so she can throw it back down the stairs again. (I wish I'd seen it. I only got to hear the ball go back down the second time and see her smiling at the top of the stairs!)

At 18 months, Autumn can say over 150 words. She uses the articles "a" and "the". She uses pronouns "it" and "you". She can pluralize a word and say things like "two balls". She knows the difference between a car and a truck. People have remarked about how clearly she speaks. She's starting to be choosy about what clothes she wears. Her favorite game right now is "swingy-swingy". (I advise parents everywhere to save this game for the kids you babysit.)

Autumn likes some unusual vegetables for her age. They are brocoli, brussel sprouts, and her very favorite, lima beans. She calls lima beans "diamonds". It's so funny that we haven't corrected her yet. Autumn's favorite movie is "Finding Nemo". It's also the only kid's movie we have. Autumn finally understands peril, so we can no longer watch the part where Nemo goes down the drain.

I finally got Autumn to drink rice milk by adding strawberry syrup to it. She loves "pink milk".

A Very Cool Website For LDS Geeks

While searching the web for the anniversary date of the Relief Society (that's another story in itself), I stumbled onto the coolest website ever. https://tech.lds.org/

This is the site where you go if you want to volunteer with any of the churches technical projects, like making LDS apps for iphones or creating new LDS-related websites. It also gives support for ward clerks and more general support for how to keep you family safe on the internet. You can even log on with your LDS account and add a profile of your skills. The skills they need are mostly programming related, but I did see a section on drafting and 3-D modeling.

Probably most of you are yawning, but I was so glad to find it because I'm really interested in the technical-type projects that the church is doing. I'm excited that there are real oppurtunities to give service if you have those types of interests and skills.
